This week we were invited to a formal dinner at Trinity College with a group of Matt’s coworkers. We met for drinks at the Trinity College bar prior to the meal, enjoyed a three-course dinner, and ended with more drinks at the bar after dinner – all for only £12! Trinity College is one of the most famous colleges at Cambridge, and was founded by King Henry VIII in the mid-1500s. So many famous people (including 32 Nobel Prize winners!) have attended Trinity College. It was so surreal to think that we were sitting in the same room where Isaac Newton ate his meals while he was part of the college!
This was my first formal in Cambridge, and it was really fun – definitely part of the full Cambridge experience! Since this was a graduate formal, guests were not required to wear robes, but robes are generally required for undergraduate formals. I imagine those events might feel like a meal at Hogwarts!
