At the end of my parents’ visit to the UK, we rented a car and drove up to the Lake District National Park in northwest England for a long weekend. My dad bravely offered to be our chauffeur and not only drive on the left side, but navigate some very narrow and twisty roads up north!
We stayed just outside the park in Silverdale, a small town on the western coast of England. On our first full day, we went for a hike along the sea to the town of Arnside. On the way there, we hiked through the woods and along the coast – we had grey skies, but still some beautiful views. We grabbed lunch and some ice cream in Arnside and then made our way back by hiking up over a steep hill and down into Silverdale. On our way back we saw the local Cricket club was playing so we stopped to watch the match and rest our legs.
The next day we ventured into the National Park – more on that in the next post!
