Vroman Holiday

We were so lucky to have some of our family visit us in Cambridge for Christmas this year. We just got back from a great weekend in London (more on that later!) but first we wanted to share some photos of our Christmas together.

We celebrated Christmas Eve in true Vroman fashion – by going to see the new Star Wars movie! We had a blast, and the theatre was so fancy. The seats were huge, had individual tray tables, and reclined all the way back. It’s a good thing the movie was so good, or the jet-lag may have gotten to the family!

On Christmas morning we opened presents and Matt and I made Vro-eggs for breakfast – a Vroman Christmas tradition. Not long after, we started prepping for our Christmas dinner. Luckily we had some practice from our Thanksgiving dinner, so our meal turned out great. After dinner we made a feuerzangenbowle, a winter treat we learned about from our German friends that literally translates to fire-tongs-bowl. You heat up some mulled wine, hold some sugar over the bowl using tongs, pour high proof rum over the sugar and light it on fire. The caramelised sugar drips into the wine making it warm, spiced, and sweet – a fitting drink for a Christmas celebration!

The next morning we set off for a trip to Stonehenge and London. We’ll post photos from everything we did there to the blog soon!

  1. You may have had the classic Vroman Xmas meal. But we had the classic Bohemian meal that my mother made. Bread dumplings with beef shank in red sauce. I made the dumplings.
